Akron Topics   August 1931

FORMAL dedication of the Y. M. C. A. building being coincident with the opening of the world's convention of Y. M. C. A.'s in Cleveland, Aug. 4 will bring to the dedicatory exercises representatives of many countries. Volunteer Akron motorists and others will afford the delegates transportation to and from Cleveland.

The program opens at 4 p. m. Y. M. C. A. President Stacy G. Carkhuff will preside and give the address of welcome. President Francis S. Harmon of the National Council Y. M. C. A. will give the dedicatory address. Keith Falconer, of New Zealand, will lead the dedication service and other distinguished visitors will also have places on the program. The general public is invited to the services.

Visitors will be given an opportunity to inspect the building and supper will be served for the Cleveland delegates, following which motorists will take them to Cleveland in time for the opening session of the world's convention in the evening.

The structure to be dedicated has been occupied since spring. It is considered to be one of the most complete and modern Y. M. C. A. establishments, in point of activities provided for and self-sustaining features, to be found anywhere.

Enrollment week to be observed in late September or October should give the local association a membership of the same outstanding character.
