The Akron-Fulton Airport is home to the original Goodyear Airdock where the first lighter than airships were built, the Airport is also home to the All American Soap Box Derby and the Akron Rubber Bowl.

Bain Ecarius "Shorty" Fulton was the founder of the Akron-Fulton Municipal Airport, a pilot in World War II, and helped establish the Derby Downs and  Rubber Bowl.
